WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I LEAVE THE FORCES?

You could get a range of benefits like a pension later in life, a regular income and lump sum when you leave or possibly an immediate grant to help you move into civilian life. What you get will depend on how long you have served for (serve for longer, get better benefits) and the scheme you are on.

Don't forget

Don’t forget time spent as a Reservist also counts towards your pension.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DECIDE TO SERVE FOR LONGER?

You get an income and lump sum when you leave as long as you serve until your IP (Immediate Pension) or EDP (Early Departure Payment) point. The longer you serve, the bigger these will be.

If you have moved to scheme AFPS15 but have service under previous ‘legacy’ schemes your previous scheme rules will also apply. Send Form12 to Veterans UK to receive accurate information about what you will get.
